TerraMaster F4-425 Plus N95 (8GB DDR4) review

The N95 selector profile has four native SATA positions, three separate M.2 positions, two individual 5GbE ports and page-listed 8GB DDR4 memory.

The exterior image does not distinguish the N95 option from the N150 option; verify the exact CPU and memory selector on the offer.

A useful fit for

A four-SATA-bay desktop NAS profile with three separate M.2 positions and dual individual 5GbE ports, in the manufacturer-listed N95/8GB DDR4 option.

The main tradeoff

The detailed specification is specific to the N150 option; the N95's memory-slot and upgrade ceiling remain unknown, and no capacity or seven-drive pool maximum is established.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the N95 profile satisfy a four-bay and single 5-Gbps port requirement?

The exact product-page comparison lists four SATA bays and two individual 5GbE ports. Its three M.2 positions are separate and do not count as extra SATA bays.

Can I configure two-drive redundancy and retain a 5GbE link?

The page lists RAID 1 for the N95 option and dual 5GbE. A buyer may purchase two compatible SATA drives and configure a mirror using two of four bays while using one network port; verify exact drives and keep another backup.

Is the N95 memory upgrade path as clearly specified as the N150 one?

No. TerraMaster's N95-specific page copy lists 8GB DDR4, but the detailed specification sheet identifies the N150 option. Its 16GB/one-slot/32GB-max values should not be assumed for N95; confirm an N95-specific manual or seller evidence.

The TerraMaster F4-425 Plus N95 is the lower-memory CPU selection within the manufacturer's F4-425 Plus product family, not the same installed configuration as the N150 version. TerraMaster's exact page and product selector identify an Intel N95 option and its selector SKU; the page's N95-specific copy lists 8 GB DDR4 memory. The separately offered N150 option is described with an N150 processor and 16 GB DDR5. This assessment uses those separate option details and does not treat a generic chassis image or the family name as proof of which unit a reseller will ship.

Keep the N95 and N150 configurations distinct

The page identifies the N95 as a four-core processor, with the model-specific marketing copy describing up to 2.4 GHz. It lists 8 GB DDR4 for this selector choice. The same source page's detailed downloadable specification table describes the N150 configuration in detail, including 16 GB DDR5 in one slot and a 32-GB maximum; it does not establish those memory-slot or maximum figures for the N95 option. I therefore do not transfer the N150 upgrade ceiling or module arrangement to this N95 assessment. If memory capacity, generation or future upgrades are essential, ask the seller for the exact N95 hardware documentation and match it to the delivered unit before purchase.

The model handle's two options are CPU choices, N150 and N95. Its variant records give different manufacturer SKUs, but those codes identify TerraMaster selector options rather than Amazon ASINs, third-party listings or a delivered bundle. The page's N95-specific paragraph and the selector are stronger identity evidence than a shortened title such as “F4-425 Plus.” Confirm the selected N95 option on the order and box label.

Four internal SATA bays plus three separate M.2 positions

The product page's comparison for the F4-425 Plus lists four drive bays, three M.2 SSD slots and two 5GbE ports. Four is the NAS's native SATA-bay count; the M.2 positions are a separate NVMe layer and do not become three extra trays for SATA disks. TerraMaster markets the Plus design as a hybrid four-HDD/three-SSD system and discusses caching, but the product materials do not prove every seven-device arrangement, drive combination or TOS storage-pool configuration. Check exact current compatibility and setup instructions before treating a particular set of M.2 modules as a usable expansion plan.

TerraMaster's comparison table lists RAID 1 and TRAID for the N95 option. One potential owner-created two-drive arrangement is a RAID 1 mirror using two separately purchased, compatible SATA drives. It occupies two of four trays and leaves two SATA bays free. It is not an included or preinitialized mirror, and the product page does not establish an individual retailer's package. RAID 1 helps with a single drive failure under the right conditions; it does not replace independent backup copies or a tested restore plan.

Network requirements should be about one port and the whole path

The exact product page lists two built-in 5GbE connections for the F4-425 Plus N95. That satisfies a requirement for one individual port rated at 5 Gbps. It does not create a single 10-Gbps port, and no measured transfer speed follows from the port labels. Your network switch or direct-link adapter, the client NIC, cable, storage layout, protocol and workload all affect the actual path. If the goal is a single link rated above 5 Gbps, select another model with a higher single-port specification rather than counting two connectors together.

Capacity examples are not a usable-space guarantee

TerraMaster's product page promotes 144 TB as an aggregate using four HDDs and three M.2 SSDs, while the more detailed N150 specification lists 120 TB raw as four 30-TB drives. Because that spec sheet is explicitly for N150, I do not treat its memory details as N95 facts, and neither capacity line becomes a guaranteed N95 maximum. The live HDD compatibility table lists exact model-specific results; it includes some 24-TB drives as Recommended for the F4-425 Plus and labels other exact 24-TB rows “Applicable, not recommended.” That distinction is a reminder to check exact drive model, capacity and firmware rather than assuming every drive at a given size is equally supported. Usable space will also depend on the selected array, filesystem and redundancy.

When this is a reasonable shortlist candidate

Consider this N95 profile if four SATA positions, three separate M.2 slots, an individual 5GbE port and the page-listed 8-GB DDR4 option fit your requirements. The N150 profile shares the F4-425 Plus chassis/network arrangement but starts with a different CPU and memory description; make that a deliberate comparison, not a presumed upgrade in the box. If your minimum is five or more native SATA bays, this four-bay enclosure is not a match. If 5.5Gbps or 10Gbps on one built-in Ethernet port is a hard floor, two 5GbE ports do not satisfy it.

The official product image shows the enclosure exterior and four front tray faces. It cannot identify N95 versus N150, memory, the rear connectors, installed drives or seller contents. The family page presents a selector configuration and the current Home/SOHO catalog includes the model, but neither says what a separate marketplace order contains or whether it is currently stocked by another seller. Verify the N95 selector SKU, processor and memory in the exact offer; confirm drives, accessories, warranty provider and return terms; and check each intended SATA or NVMe drive against the current compatibility matrix. This is a research-based reading of manufacturer materials, not a hands-on review or measured performance report.
