Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the N95 option list a one-port 5GbE connection?
The F2-425 Plus product page lists two individual 5GbE ports at model level. One meets a 5-Gbps single-port floor; they are not one 10GbE port or a transfer-rate guarantee.
Explore this need in the finder →Can an N95 buyer plan two-drive redundancy in this two-bay chassis?
The product page names TRAID and two HDD positions; TerraMaster says two disks are needed for its one-disk failure tolerance. The owner must select compatible drives and create the pool. A separate backup is still needed.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use the N150 memory limit for an N95 upgrade?
No. The N95 page copy lists 8GB DDR5 but does not establish module form, slot count or maximum capacity. The detailed one-slot/32GB sheet applies to N150 only; obtain N95-specific documentation before buying memory.
Explore this need in the finder →The TerraMaster F2-425 Plus N95 has two native HDD positions, three separate M.2 SSD positions and two individual 5GbE ports at model level. The N95 page copy lists a four-core processor up to 2.4GHz and 8GB DDR5. Its memory slot and maximum remain unknown in the reviewed N95-specific evidence; the N150 specification is not interchangeable. This is a source-based assessment, not a report from using or testing the NAS.
Count the internal HDD bays separately from M.2
The “3+2” wording describes two HDD positions plus three M.2 SSD slots. For an internal-HDD-bay minimum, this remains a two-bay chassis; the M.2 layer is separate, not three more SATA trays. The N95 page copy names three M.2 slots, but the detailed N150 sheet alone gives 2280/NVMe/PCIe detail. Do not silently apply that N150 specification to N95.
The product page discusses M.2 RAID 5, separate pools and caching. These are different configurations, not proof that every drive and firmware combination works. Check exact HDD and NVMe models in TerraMaster's current compatibility tables.
The N95 facts and the memory gap
The product handle distinguishes N150 and N95 and assigns the N95 option its own maker SKU. The N95-specific page copy states 8GB DDR5 and up to 2.4GHz. The detailed downloadable sheet identifies N150; its one 8GB module, single SODIMM slot and 32GB maximum are not N95 upgrade instructions. No N95 memory-slot count or supported maximum was found. If upgrade capacity matters, request N95-specific documentation and verify the shipped option.
Two network ports do not combine into one faster port
The model page lists two built-in 5GbE ports. One meets a 5Gbps single-port floor, but the two connectors are not one 10GbE port or a file-transfer benchmark. Client NIC, switch/direct connection, cabling, protocol, drives and workload constrain the path. For one port faster than 5Gbps, compare a model with that individual connector rating.
TRAID is a buyer-created arrangement, not included redundancy
The product page names TRAID, and TerraMaster says its one-disk failure tolerance requires at least two drives. A buyer could select two compatible HDDs for a TRAID pool using both SATA positions. Pool creation is an owner action; no drives or preconfigured array are assumed. Redundancy does not protect against deletion, ransomware, theft or enclosure loss, so plan a separate backup. The M.2 RAID 5 idea is a different configuration from the two-HDD TRAID plan.
Capacity and quiet-operation language are not a specification shortcut
The product page promotes 84TB as two 30TB HDD examples plus three 8TB M.2 SSDs. The N150-only sheet separately lists 60TB raw for its two SATA positions; it does not establish an N95 combined maximum. These are not a verified usable capacity or every simultaneous pool arrangement. Redundancy changes usable space, so check exact devices rather than treating the headline as an N95 limit.
The page's general copy says fanless/19dB, while the N150 sheet lists one 80mm fan and 20.0dB(A) under a two-drive standby/one-metre condition. That sheet does not establish the N95 fan or noise profile, and no independent measurement is available. If acoustics matter, request N95-specific information rather than relying on the headline.
Check BIOS before booting TOS 7 from the third M.2 slot
The Support notice applies to F2-425 Plus and identifies a Slot 3 NVMe boot-priority issue on BIOS MTWL0101.V03–V06; it lists V07 and BJFX-TWLX-108 as requiring no extra adjustment. Check the delivered BIOS before using Slot 3 for a TOS 7 system disk. This is version-specific, not a claim about every N95 unit.
What to confirm before choosing N95
Compare N95 when two native HDD positions, a 5GbE link and a separate M.2 plan fit. A three-bay minimum excludes it regardless of M.2 count. The CPU and 8GB DDR5 headline are N95-specific; its upgrade ceiling is unknown. The exact handle SKU supports the selector identity, not a seller's shipment, stock or warranty.
The official image shows the exact chassis exterior but not CPU, memory, rear ports, drives or seller contents. Before buying, check the N95 selector, obtain memory documentation if upgrades matter, confirm exact drive support and whether drives are included. Two-drive redundancy requires buyer-supplied drives and pool setup plus another backup. No ownership, testing, measured noise or seller availability is claimed.
