A useful fit for

A document-documented 30-position, 2U all-flash QNAP rack profile with 32 GB DDR5 and a buyer-created RAID 1 option using two compatible 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. Its single-port Ethernet ceiling is 10 Gbps.

The main tradeoff

This is not a hard-drive shelf: all 30 positions are 2.5-inch SATA SSD-only. The chassis is a 2U rack appliance, drive capacity depends on separately purchased compatible SSDs, and rail kit RAIL-A03-57 is not included in QNAP’s guide package list. Do not infer 20 Gbps from two 10GbE ports or assume either warranty text controls the actual sale; the guide says three years while the current U.S. page and Store state five.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How many internal drive positions does the TS-h3077AFU-R5-32G-US profile provide, and are they interchangeable?

QNAP documents 30 total internal positions: 30 x 2.5-inch SATA SSD positions. Their drive formats differ as described in the exact media compatibility note. This count is not a usable-capacity or all-HDD claim. Check exact disk/firmware compatibility before purchasing.

What is the fastest individual built-in network port on this profile?

QNAP documents a single built-in Ethernet port rated up to 10 Gbps: 2 x 10GBASE-T RJ45, 2 x 2.5GbE RJ45. Port count does not make a single connection faster; the switch, cable, client and workload must also support the desired path. This is a link rating, not a throughput test.

Can this exact profile support two-drive redundancy, and are the drives included?

The current QNAP software selector lists RAID 1 for this profile/family. A buyer may choose two compatible drives in the suitable native positions, install one selected OS and create the mirror; no data drives or prebuilt pool are listed. A mirror can help if one drive fails but is not an independent backup.

What changes between the selected hardware configuration and its closest selector sibling?

AMD Ryzen 5 7000 series; 6 cores/12 threads; 32GB installed memory. Published CPU and memory specifications do not prove a workload-speed advantage. This exact U.S. SKU is documented by the official Store; compare its complete suffix before buying.

Assessment basis: This is a document-based review of the exact QNAP TS-h3077AFU-R5-32G-US package identity, not a hands-on test. The U.S. QNAP Store page establishes the complete R5/32G/US name; the English U.S. guide distinguishes this configuration from the R7/64G sibling. No price, inventory level, seller bundle or measured workload result is asserted.

Thirty positions, but only one drive family

The number that defines the TS-h3077AFU is 30: QNAP's guide documents thirty 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s bays and lists 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives as the supported media. It is an all-flash design, not a 30-tray HDD rack. That distinction matters more than the headline bay count if a plan assumes inexpensive high-capacity 3.5-inch hard drives. The frame makes sense only when the capacity, endurance, interface, firmware and cost of the chosen SSDs work for the intended storage pool. Check each candidate SSD and the exact firmware against QNAP's compatibility tool; the existence of 30 trays does not establish a tested 30-drive combination, usable capacity or workload performance.

QNAP lists two 10GBASE-T RJ45 ports and two 2.5GbE ports. For a one-port requirement, 10Gbps is the fastest built-in link rating. The second 10GbE jack is another path, not a promise of one 20Gbps connection. The switch, client, cabling, storage, filesystem and workload still determine transfer results. Three PCIe Gen4 slots and QNAP's stated long-term supply through 2030 describe expansion and vendor policy, not measured speed or guaranteed future compatibility.

R5/32G is the lower CPU and memory profile

The R5-32G configuration uses an AMD Ryzen 5 7000-series processor listed as six cores and twelve threads, with 32GB DDR5 UDIMM memory. The manual contrasts it with an eight-core/sixteen-thread Ryzen 7 and 64GB in R7-64G. It also lists four DDR5 UDIMM slots and up to 192GB, while noting ECC memory support. Those are concrete configuration differences, but the numbers alone do not show that one will be faster for a particular virtual machine, database, media workflow or concurrent file load. Size the memory and services from a real workload plan; confirm supported upgrade modules and the delivered hardware revision before buying extra DIMMs.

At the model-family level QNAP presents QTS and QuTS hero as alternative operating systems. The current software selector lists RAID 1. A buyer could choose one OS, install two supported 2.5-inch SATA SSDs and create a two-drive mirror in two native positions. The other 28 positions do not come populated or configured. QNAP warns that changing from QuTS hero to QTS requires removing the drives, so decide on the filesystem and migration route before placing data. RAID 1 can help maintain access after one member-drive failure; it cannot replace a separate backup against deletion, malware, theft, fire or loss of the full chassis.

Rack, package and warranty checks

The guide calls this a 2U rackmount system and names RAIL-A03-57 as the compatible rail kit, which is sold separately. The listed guide dimensions are 88.3 × 482 × 549.7mm and net weight is 12.73kg; use the current QNAP drawing and actual rack measurements to check post spacing, depth, rear cable bend, airflow, loaded rail capacity and safe service access. The guide package includes two power cords, a Cat6A cable and 120 drive screws, but no data drives or pre-created pool. Two 550W power supplies are not redundant if both cords depend on the same upstream feed.

Warranty wording conflicts: QNAP's current U.S. product and Store pages say five years standard, while the English guide says three years limited. Confirm the written terms for the exact delivered regional SKU rather than treating the discrepancy as settled. This R5 package is a plausible fit for a deployment that genuinely needs 30 SSD-only positions, ECC-capable memory and native 10GbE in a rack. It is a poor match for a hard-drive-first build, small desktop use or a buyer who expects included SSDs, rails or a verified array. The official image shows the family chassis, not the selected CPU/RAM package or its contents. No ownership, installation experience, acoustic measurement, testing or independent speed claim is made here.
