A useful fit for

For a buyer seeking five internal E1.S/NVMe positions, 10GbE and a documented owner-created RAID 1 option in the current i5U platform.

The main tradeoff

The nominal 9.6TB sums five SSDs and is not post-RAID usable capacity; confirm drive model/firmware, replacement terms, backups and full network path.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How many internal positions does this profile provide?

Five E1.S NVMe positions. The M.2 adapter route uses the same positions, not extra bays; this is not a SATA HDD tray system.

Can one built-in Ethernet interface meet 10Gbps?

Yes. QNAP lists a 10GBASE-T port and a separate 2.5GbE port; neither adding them nor counting Thunderbolt as Ethernet gives one faster Ethernet link. Network components and workload determine actual transfer results.

Is a supported two-drive mirror possible?

The English-U.S. guide lists RAID 1 for two drives with one-drive failure tolerance. Verify media and create the array yourself; maintain a separate backup. Current-reference status does not guarantee seller stock.

The TBS-h574TX-i5UC-05S01-US is QNAP’s five-drive 1.92 TB E1.S all-flash bundle built around the current i5U-16G appliance profile. The exact U.S. Official Store item title identifies the “-US” package; QNAP’s English-U.S. model guide identifies the underlying i5UC-05S01 ordering P/N and lists five 1.92 TB SSDs. This is not the diskless i5U-16G-US offer and not the separate 3.84 TB S02 package. The family chassis image cannot show SSD labels or distinguish either bundle, so treat the written SKU and bill of materials as the identity check.

Preloaded SSDs change the decision, not the bay count

The five E1.S NVMe drives occupy the five internal positions. QNAP calls the total 9.6 TB, the arithmetic sum of five 1.92 TB drives; that figure is not a promise of usable formatted capacity. A RAID layout, filesystem overhead and reserved space affect what remains. In particular, a two-drive RAID 1 arrangement mirrors only the two chosen members, consumes two slots and does not protect the other data from deletion, malware or loss of the NAS. The buyer still needs a separately maintained backup. Confirm the exact SSD model, firmware, warranty and replacement path because QNAP’s bundle description establishes capacity and form factor, but does not name every drive-level detail in the listed package table.

The five positions are E1.S NVMe on PCIe Gen 3 x2. The manual describes M.2 2280 adapters for the bare configuration and says the loaded bundles instead include E1.S drives; the M.2 adapter is optional for those bundle variants. M.2 is an alternative media route within the existing positions, not additional storage bays. QNAP’s fit and heatsink requirements still apply, and the exact compatibility list should be checked before substituting SSDs. This is a flash NASbook rather than a SATA HDD enclosure.

Current i5U platform and connection choices

The current configuration combines an Intel Core i5-1235U with 16 GB onboard memory that QNAP lists as non-expandable. Five SSDs are included in this particular profile, unlike the bare i5U-16G-US and earlier i5/i3 variants. QNAP documents one 10GBASE-T and one 2.5GbE port, plus two Thunderbolt 4 data ports. The numeric Ethernet condition is about the fastest single built-in Ethernet port—10GbE—not a sum of the Ethernet jacks or the Thunderbolt path. A NAS-to-workstation workflow still depends on the client, switch, cabling, protocol, storage layout and workload. Thunderbolt can be a useful direct editing path, but no advertised family bandwidth figure is an independent result for this bundle.

QuTS hero is preinstalled, while QTS is an alternative install according to QNAP. The manual lists two-drive RAID 1 as a supported arrangement. Decide the software and storage layout before loading important data, check that the supplied SSDs and firmware match the intended plan, and make a separate backup. If changing operating systems, preserve data because the filesystems are distinct. The manual’s documented E1.S thickness ceiling and M.2 heatsink clearance also matter if you later replace or repurpose storage.

When the loaded configuration is worth comparing

This is the clearest fit among the family’s profiles for a buyer seeking a five-SSD, five-position configuration without selecting each drive separately. That convenience is balanced by a fixed bundle choice: five equal 1.92 TB devices may not be the desired capacity, endurance or replacement plan. The 3.84 TB S02 package doubles each drive’s advertised nominal size, but it is a separate model package and no matching exact U.S. Store SKU was established for it. Do not treat the S02’s existence on QNAP’s product page as a current U.S. seller offer. Conversely, do not assume the S01 bundle is diskless just because it shares the same chassis as the base i5U.

Before ordering, verify the full TBS-h574TX-i5UC-05S01-US identity, five included E1.S drives and their exact manufacturer codes in the written package listing; confirm support and warranty terms; and validate the intended OS, RAID, backup, network path and Thunderbolt host. QNAP lists a compact 60 × 215 × 199 mm body, but cable space and cooling still matter. No price, stock level, real transfer test, seller-added accessory or preconfigured array is asserted here.
